In 2018, Colliers advised the Council on the purchase of the investment interest in Crompton Place Shopping Centre, which provides the majority of the land for the new development.
This is a major town centre regeneration project, which has a huge range of complexities to be overcome before it can be brought forward.
Colliers have devised a detailed vacant possession and land assembly strategy, which they are implementing. Colliers are also advising on the design and content of the new development, which will comprise retail, offices, residential, leisure and hotel space, as well as the new Bolton Works hub.
It will provide a prime new quarter for Bolton directly opposite the Town Hall. The multi-disciplinary Colliers team being led by their Head of Retail Development, Greg Styles, are also leasing and funding agents.
A planning application has been submitted for this major regeneration scheme and it is targeted to start on site in 2021.
In November 2019, the agreement between Knowsley Council and St Modwen was completed. This secured the delivery of the new 90,000 sq ft development with the Council funding the costs and taking ownership of the completed scheme and the existing town centre assets.
The Colliers team was led throughout by their Head of Retail Development, Greg Styles, and they are now retained to lease the remainder of the new development for the Council, which will open in mid-2020.
